The Polish and Lithuanian Constitution Day was solemnly celebrated in Chisinau
On April 22, the Embassies of Lithuania and Poland in Chisinau organized a solemn reception and a concert on the occasion of the Constitution of 3 May 1791 of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The 20th anniversary of Lithuania's and Poland's membership in the European Union and the respective 20th and 25th anniversaries of their membership in NATO were also celebrated.
The Ambassador of Lithuania Tadas Valionis said that the Constitution of May 3 was based on solidarity, cooperation and common values, which are reflected today by the EU and NATO. "Moldova and Ukraine today also benefit greatly from the EU and NATO. (...) Your membership would contribute to the enlargement of the space of prosperity and security", said the ambassador.
The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, took part in the celebrations held at the Palace of the Republic. "Our relationship with Poland and Lithuania is not just one of friendship and cooperation, but also of shared values and aspirations. (...) With your support, we advance towards EU accession, and you help us to overcome the significant external challenges we are facing", said the President.
The event was attended by ministers, high-level state officials, the diplomatic corps, representatives of culture and business, as well as members of the Lithuanian and Polish diaspora.
