Information about Schengen (C) visas

An alien who holds a Schengen short-stay visa (C), may travel on transit through the Republic of Lithuania or other Schengen states or enter the Republic of Lithuania and stay in it a period not exceeding 3 months in half a year, counting from the first day from the entry into the Republic of Lithuania or other Schengen state.

In order to obtain a Schengen visa, citizens of the Republic of Moldova shall provide the following documents:

  1. a completed and signed application form for Schengen visa (in Russian or English). Please fill-in the form in Latin letters, print all pages, sign each of them and submit together with other documents;
  2. a valid travel document, whose period of validity must be at least three months longer than the period of validity of a visa requested to be issued. It must contain at least two empty pages and must be issued within the past ten years;
  3. identity card (buletin de identitate, original and copies);
  4. one 35 x 45 colour photo corresponding the person’s age;
  5. a valid document confirming possession of medical insurance, whose amount is 30 thousand Euros;
  6. supporting documents (Annex IV to the Commission Implementing Decision (29.4.2014, C(2014) 2737) establising the list of supporting documents to be presented by visa applicants in Moldova (in English and in Romanian)):

- documents indicating a purpose of the visit;

- documents indicating a place of accommodation and/or proof that (s)he is in possession of adequate means of subsistence to pay for accommodation;

- documents indicating that a person submitting an application is in possession of adequate means of subsistence both for the intended period of stay and for the return to his country of origin or country of residence or for travelling in transit to a third country, to which he would definitely be allowed or may legally receive such means of subsistence;

- information helping to access whether a person submitting an application intends to depart from the territory of member state until the expiration date of visa that (s)he wants to be issued.

If an alien wishes to enter the Republic of Lithuania for multiple times, (s)he must also submit documents confirming the necessity of multiple entries.

According to the Visa Code of the European Union, the consular officers of the Embassy have a right to invite the applicant for a personal interview and / or to ask him/ her to submit additional documents.

A consular non-refundable application fee for a processing of application for Schengen visa is 35 EUR for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. Fees for processing the visa application shall be waived for the following categories of persons.
