Photo-documentary exhibition opened in Gagauzia
On September 30, an exhibition of documents and photographs "Gulag Testimonies" kept in the funds of the National Museum of History of Moldova in memory of the victims of political repression was opened in Comrat, administrative center of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.
The opening of the exhibition was held in the town square in front of the Regional History Museum, and was attended by deportees, political prisoners, their relatives and family members, as well as public activists and historians who study deportations and other soviet-period political repressions and their legacy. The participants of the event not only shared their memories from the past, but also talked about today's concerns related to the rehabilitation of victims, restoration of property and public education.
The exhibition was prepared by the Institute of Social History ProMemoria with partners. The exhibition was supported by the Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.
