Opening of the Photo-documentary Exhibition in Telenești

On January 20, opening of the photo-documentary exhibition “The War after War: anti-Soviet resistance in Lithuania, 1944-1953” of the Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights (Vilnius) took place at the Museum of History and Ethnography in Telenești.

During the event, the students from the “Lucian Blaga” Theoretical High School of Telenești, guided by the history teacher Mr. Vitalie Mirciu, held an interactive lesson about the anti-Soviet armed resistance in Lithuania in 1944-1953. Discussions also mentioned the 30th Anniversary of the defense of the institutions of sovereign Lithuania (13 January 1991) against the assault by Soviet armed forces. The participants commemorated the victims of the totalitarian-communist regime, evoking the trauma from the collective memory produced by the political repressions, the provoked hunger, the mass deportations. Also, the discussion involved aspects of Lithuania’s achievements in building European culture of memory and the importance to preserve the memory of heroes who fought for freedom in Lithuania and in Bessarabia.

In the final part, the audience watched sequences from the documentary film “I, Filimon Boghiu…” (film director Efim Josanu, 2020).
