Lithuanian experts conducted a training in Chisinau
On September 20-21, a training aimed at developing the communication skills for women working in the field of European integration took place in Chisinau. Ambassador Tadas Valionis welcomed the participants by stressing the importance for professionals to inspire other people in the community to be interested in climate issues and to take steps towards a climate resilient society and sustainable choices.
Representatives of the Ministry of Environment of Moldova, the Ministry of Agriculture and other public institutions attended the event. The training was conducted by Neringa Vilutytė and Jurga Skrebytė, representatives of the Development Department of the Environmental Project Management Agency (APVA).
APVA has started implementing the project "Support for sustainable handling of beverage packaging", financed by the Republic of Lithuania's Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion programme. The project envisages two activities: promotion of women's leadership in the fields of environmental protection and climate change and the transfer of Lithuanian experience in creating a deposit system for glass and plastic beverage packaging.
In July 2022, Republic of Moldova was granted European Union candidate status. The country has made a commitment to fundamentally improve management systems in the areas of environmental protection and climate change. In this process, Moldova needs the experience of EU countries.
APVA contributes to strengthening the administrative and institutional capacities of Moldovan institutions involved in environmental and climate change management in the field of European integration.
A seminar is scheduled for October, where APVA will present Lithuania's success story in creating a deposit system and help Moldovan representatives plan and implement an analogous system.
