EMBASSY PAID TRIBUTE TO THE VICTIMS OF TRAGIC EVENTS OF JANUARY 1991

The Embassy of Lithuania took part in the Civic Campaing Memory is Alive Through Testimony. The campaign commemorates the tragic events of January 1991 when Soviet leadership unsuccessfully tried to crush Lithuania's quest to re-establish its statehood.
The occupational army and repressive Soviet institutions used force against the unarmed civil population. As a result 14 peple died and 1000 were injuried.The campaign Memory is Alive Through Testimony is organized in Lithuanian Embassies abroad, at public schools and institutions in Lithuania. During the campaign the candles are lit at the windows and the lights go off in respect for those who died and fought for freedom.
