Consular fees will change on 1 March 2026

Attention!

Changes are being introduced to the fees collected by the State of Lithuania for consular services.

As of 1 March 2026, a new wording of the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania No. 1135 of 16 November 1994 “On the Approval of the List of Specific Amounts of Consular Fees and the Description of the Procedure for the Payment of Consular Fees and the Refund of Overpaid Consular Fees” will enter into force, and the amounts of consular fees will be amended.

In accordance with the provisions of Article 4 of the Law of the Republic of Lithuania on Consular Fees, the amounts of consular fees have been recalculated taking into account the increased costs of performing consular acts. The new consular fee amounts can be found here:

The consular fee amounts were last revised in 2009. Since then, the costs of performing consular acts have increased significantly. These include the costs taken into account when calculating consular fees, such as the production of legally valid document forms, diplomatic mail expenses, as well as costs related to mandatory civil liability insurance for the performance of notarial acts. Due to changes in document security standards, new information systems have been introduced in diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Lithuania abroad, the latest biometric data capture equipment and software have been acquired, and the costs of maintaining and administering consular workstations have increased. The increase in fees, as part of Lithuania’s budgetary policy, is based on economic, social, and political considerations. Accordingly, state fees for public sector services in Lithuania have been increased in order to align them with the fees charged by other EU Member States for similar services, and to ensure that the funds collected in the state budget enable faster digitalisation of services, thereby improving their accessibility and quality.
