AMBASSADOR V.MOTULAITĖ PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO INTERIM PRESIDENT M.GHIMPU
On 2 December Ambassador Violeta Motulaitė presented the letters of credence to Chairman of the Parliament, Interim President of the Republic of Moldova Mihai Ghimpu.
During the ceremony, Lithuania’s Ambassador noted that the relations between Lithuania and Moldova are friendly and strong.
“I will make every effort to continue strengthening and fostering our friendship and mutual understanding,” the Ambassador said.
Interim President M.Ghimpu noted that both, bilateral and multilateral agenda between Lithuania and Moldova is intensive. He expressed hope that both countries would continue to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation and would promote bilateral trade.
“We are waiting for Lithuanian investors in Moldova, which is currently reforming its economy,” M.Ghimpu noted during the conversation.
The Head of State stressed that Lithuania is a very important supporter of Moldova’s European integration goals.
“We expect your support on Moldova’s Eurointegration road also in the future. Only in Europe Moldova can create secure and prosperous future for its citizens,” told Mr. M.Ghimpu.
Ambassador V.Motulaitė stressed that Lithuania would continue to share its experience of implementing reforms.
The Ambassador emphasized that Lithuania, which would celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the reestablishment of its independence in 2010, would never forget that the Supreme Council of Moldova was the first to recognize Lithuania’s independence on 31 May 1990. Ambassador V.Motulaitė thanked Moldova’s Acting President M.Ghimpu for his personal contribution in recognizing the independence of Lithuania.
“In those days, the Lithuanian Sąjūdis was in step with the Popular Front of Moldova. I trust that in the future we shall belong to single European family again,” said M.Ghimpu.
