AMBASSADOR DELIVERED A LECTURE AT ALECU RUSSO UNIVERSITY IN BALTI

On May 13 Ambassador Violeta Motulaitė delivered a lecture at the Alecu Russo State University in Balti on Lithuania’s Eurointegration experience. Ambassador noted the good progress that Moldova has achieved during the last years on the eurointegration path and expressed Lithuania’s continuous support for Moldova in this regard. “Lithuania has always been and will be a staunch supporter of Moldova’s eurointegration efforts both on political and on practical levels. We deliver our experience in the fields of Justine Reform, Customs service reform, Railroad via Transnistria, in the field of implementing of norms and standards in food safety for plant origin products, certification of ecological agricultural products, etc.,“ said V.Motulaitė. Ambassador Motulaitė noted that one of the key Lithuania‘s experience was the understanding that „integration begins at home“, which meant that Lithuania vigorously implemented domestic reforms. The success at home put us on the course of EU membership, noted Ambassador. V.Motulaitė stressed that domestic reforms are impossible without political consensus. “Lithuanian political parties signed an agreement on major foreign policy goals. It was our commitment, as well as a message to our Western partners about the consensus existing in Lithuania with respect to our main foreign policy goals”  said Lithuanian diplomat. At the end of the lecture Ambassador showed a movie “Gedimino keliu” about the recent history of the Lithuanian diplomatic service and Lithuania’s foreign policy.
