Lithuanian institutions successfully contributed to the modernization of the civil service in Moldova
On March 14, the closing ceremony of the EU-funded Twinning project „Support to the civil service modernization in the Republic of Moldova in line with EU best practices” was held in Chisinau, with the participation of the Secretary General of the Government of Moldova, the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Moldova, and the Deputy Chancellor, Government of the Republic of Lithuania.
Initiated on the basis of the partnership between the European Union, State Chancellery of the Republic of Moldova and Lithuanian Government Office, the Twinning project contributed to strengthening the capacities of the civil servants in the Republic of Moldova by developing and implementing the training programme and improving the quality of the professional development process. In addition, the Project supported the capacity building of the State Secretaries and adjustment of the legal framework on civil service modernization by applying EU best practices.
The project was implemented by the Office of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania in partnership with the Civil Service Department, the Training Centre of the Ministry of Finance, the European Social Fund Agency from Lithuania, and the State Chancellery of the Republic of Moldova.
Lithuanian authorities alone or in consortium with the other EU member states have been successfully awarded the implementation of 5 EU-funded Twinning projects in Moldova in the fields of food safety and veterinary, consumer rights, public administration reform and pharmaceutical activity regulation. European Commission-funded EU Twinning program brings together the EU countries to share their experience and best practices with the peer institutions of the beneficiary countries with the aim to strengthen their administrative capacity and implement necessary reforms.
