The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs allocated EUR 20, 000 to the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) towards humanitarian assistance.

On 1 October, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania announced a Call to submit applications for the implementation of development cooperation projects under the Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Programme in 2019.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania has allocated EUR 60, 000 for humanitarian aid, of which EUR 20, 000 to Syria will be transferred to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, while EUR 15, 000 to Mali and EUR 15, 000 Somalia will be transferred to the World Food Program. Lithuania‘s Foreign Ministry has also allocated EUR 10, 000 in humanitarian aid to the Guatemalan Government and the victims of volcanic eruptions. A catastrophic eruption of Guatemala's Fuego volcano has affected more than 1.7 million people.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania allocated EUR 50 thousand in humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The funds will be transferred to the United Nations (UN) migration agency, the International Organisation for Migration. This act is another contribution to the implementation of the Humanitarian Response Plan launched by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. The Plan aims at allocations which are expected to reach USD 187 million in 2018.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius together with the NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Tacan Ildem and the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze welcomed the participants of the seminar “Strategic Communications cooperation in response to hybrid threats” in Vilnius.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania has allocated EUR 55, 000 for humanitarian aid in Ukraine, of which EUR 20, 000 will be transferred to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and EUR 35, 000 to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Thus, Lithuania aims to contribute to the provision of humanitarian aid in Ukraine, taking into account the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) call for $187 million to launch Ukraine’s Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) for 2018.
